Canoe
Creek Ranch was founded in 2003 by Mr. Stewart, he was
filled with sadness when he looked
behind his home and saw a
beautiful farm that was possibly going to be sold as a
landfill. How could he possibly change such a grievance
course of action, then the ideas surfaced. The thought
occurred to him that if he could only buy the land he
would have to make it pay for itself, somehow.
As he reflected, he thought about his son's expertise as
a guide after working on a elk ranch in Colorado for six
months and at about the same time he visited a ranch in
Texas that offered exotic hunting. By July 2003 the idea
became a reality and Canoe Creek Ranch was born.
Initially
The Stewart's would just offer Exotic animal hunting,
whitetail hunting and upland game bird hunting. Later
the idea came to offer sporting clay shooting, a 3-D
archery range and a pistol and rifle range.
A 5,000 sq. foot Bed and Breakfast with all the elegant
amenities of a resort along with the remoteness of the
wild was added to the property. The 3 level bed and
breakfast has a bathroom on each level and in each
bedroom is a TV/DVD combo. It has a in-ground pool,
six-person hot tub, sauna, BBQ pit, and a sporting clay
station over looking a pristine view almost beyond
description.
Hunting is provided and even expanded to include a 6,500
acre open range hunting operation in Casey County, and a
2,500 acre open range hunting operation in Houstonville
both leased by Canoe Creek Ranch.
The animals on the Bed & Breakfast side of the farm
include horses, exotic cattle, zebras, miniature ponies,
lamas, and Texas long horn cattle.
The 4,000 sq. foot lodge was built by the Stewart's own
hands and each piece was
specially cut from trees right off the farm.
Stewart's
ideas keep growing too. Plans include events all year
long for all kinds of groups. A petting zoo is in the
works along with concerts, Daniel Boone primitive craft
festival, a pumpkin patch with all the activities geared
toward fall and a Live Nativity Scene during the
Christmas season that will be one of the largest in the
State.
Youth groups, local schools, church groups, corporate
groups, elderly groups, etc. are all welcome to come out
and stay, we can plan your events for you and group
rates are available. We would like for local people to
know that they are welcome out and our hunting
adventures never interfere with viewing of the natural
surroundings and everything Canoe Creek Ranch has to
offer is in a safe environment.
